starting off I did a doodle of GLAZE!

Flying Machines (old stuff)

Just dug up some old drawings of flying machines I did for a college project which I loved doing these so I though on sharing them :D Originally I started with an organic form ( thus using the squid/nautilus form) and eventually turning it into a more industrial and mechanic form using elements of steam-punk!

 

Ancient Temple Concept

Working on some concepts for buildings for a fantasy world at the mo, possibly may appear into a comic in the late future but let's see how it goes!

which inspired me to roll out the photoshop and get scribbling with monsters :D
well this is a rough idea, I'm tempted to progress it  but let's see how it goes !

Sorry people it's official, I'm stopping further work on BREAKER- truth is I just don't enjoy working on it anymore... I may come back to it someday, for now I want to work on something more fun and exciting and maybe colour :D sorry to disappoint
any fans out there... But don't despair please stay tuned for a new comic in the next few weeks... But it maybe a while because I'm moving to university in about 3 weeks? So let's see how it goes!

Maplestory...

recently I have been playing the MMORPG maplestory and thus BREAKER- hasn't been getting done :p but on the good side I drew my character roughly.. enjoy!

Hey! Just thought you'd like to where all the phantasmical magic happens! My studio is sorta tiny and used be a closet apparently according to my parents but it has a window 0_o any here is the studio!

Traditional Vs Digital

Today I got a NEW tablet and I have to say BREAKER-#3 is going to look smashing! I'm changing the system the way I work especially inking, but I be doing all inking now via digital I'll still keep to the ways of old :)
any way here are the examples between the age old war of digital & Traditional.

  Here is one of the opening pannels to BREAKER-#3 of the Rhanzallium Ark it's a scan of the original mauscript on a Raster layer, I convert the black to green (most use red or blue but i see it easier and better to work with green how odd :p) the reason i convert it to GREEN is so it's easier when I go over it when digitally ink it.

here is the Digitally inked version which is the finished version, I've also added tone, and the good thing with the program I'm using Manga Studio you can get rulers for perspective and snap the lines to the ruler giving brilliant perspective!

I think Digital has one this war sadly, but I still love to use traditional :)

Evalutation..

through out this whole project I feel the concept of the way I work has shifted dramatically,
for instance : at first I wasn't using reference and lack of research to back up my ideas, but later on
my work was heavily supported by research and reference giving it a more defined and realistic look to my characters.

My time management I have to say wasn't brilliant alot of things happened that changed my plans for my project and I had taken way too long on those paintings almost two weeks! and then I revolutionized my idea for final images using a medium of which i was more comfortable with, I don't think those paintings on such a large scale couldn't gone well if I had proceeded any further and they where to messy anyway to present on display as originals.

I did like that I explored with various medias and especially animation and 3d - I felt it was a massive step out my comfort zone.

Worm concepts (extended)/ photoshop experimentation

I experimented with photoshop to see how realistic i could make my creatures, also it's a quicker way then painting them and it's more effective. I scanned in a drawing of some concepts of worms, and thought on how there coulour can effect camouflage them or fend of predators or it glows in the dark so it can help them see.

V&A gallery

When visiting the V&A I was looking at how people from ancient times recorded animals, and how they exaggerated them to be links to the gods, especially the chinese inspired me adding great honorific patterns to increase the majesty on these creatures.
