Evalutation..

through out this whole project I feel the concept of the way I work has shifted dramatically,
for instance : at first I wasn't using reference and lack of research to back up my ideas, but later on
my work was heavily supported by research and reference giving it a more defined and realistic look to my characters.

My time management I have to say wasn't brilliant alot of things happened that changed my plans for my project and I had taken way too long on those paintings almost two weeks! and then I revolutionized my idea for final images using a medium of which i was more comfortable with, I don't think those paintings on such a large scale couldn't gone well if I had proceeded any further and they where to messy anyway to present on display as originals.

I did like that I explored with various medias and especially animation and 3d - I felt it was a massive step out my comfort zone.

Exhiubtion photos

It was ALOT of work setting up but here ya' go ! :D

Worm concepts (extended)/ photoshop experimentation

I experimented with photoshop to see how realistic i could make my creatures, also it's a quicker way then painting them and it's more effective. I scanned in a drawing of some concepts of worms, and thought on how there coulour can effect camouflage them or fend of predators or it glows in the dark so it can help them see.

V&A gallery

When visiting the V&A I was looking at how people from ancient times recorded animals, and how they exaggerated them to be links to the gods, especially the chinese inspired me adding great honorific patterns to increase the majesty on these creatures.

Illustration Cupboard

Visting the Illustration cupboard was a well worth trip, there lots of brilliant artists,  and ranging from alot of children's book illustrators varying from miffy to charlie and Lola and including the featured artist Chris Wormell! he uses alot of watercolour and colouring pencils for his work of which worked very well, I should see if I can try practicing with colouring pencils for my FMP.

London Natural History Museum!!!

I went to the London Natural History Museum to look at some of the fossils and creatures, they had alot of stuff about Charles Darwin's theory of evolution, and show like how birds had different beaks to do certain tasks, also I saw alot of fossils and looked how there bodies where built to do things like hunt, or defend them selves from predators.

Starting this project, I 1st created some models out of plasterscene  and other materials, the good thing is about it is its simple and easy to use and allows me to make small rough images some to life, and the block colours gave it some conceptual look to them as well sadly alot of these creatures didn't progress though the idea stage, but I'm happy to say that the plated chameleon did!

HANDIMALS!

1st I created a weird hand sign that sort of had an animalistic figure

next I drew that hand figure.

Then I imagined an animal out of that figure giving it an rough image
                                               and adding characteristic to it

and finally inking it and adding small details to make it more animal like like a tail
and patterns, this creature is dubbed ' boxing giraffe' because the way its arms like 'fisticuffs

Oxford University Museum Visit/ Fossil Study

Today I went to The Oxford University Museum to look at fossils,Skeletons and how they display them
for my FMP exhibition, looking at Illustrations as well how they can predict a whole creature
with just very little of there body E.g. what colour they where or if they had large scaly bodies.

These Images below are an example of what I was saying about over exaggeration
with these jaw they managed to create an image of what the creature possibly looked like.

These are more detailed protraits of creatures of this evolutionairy chain. all done from scratch using a dip-pen I have also given them Latin names as to make more believable and also giving them morden names to make it easier for the audience to understand what creatures are like.

Evolution chain-concepts

These are my ideas for what the evolutionary chain will look like, obviously i will make some adjustments and refine some of the characters, im also going to draw some more detailed creatures I added a bit of colour to some to make it easier to translate and give a bit more life into them, I drew theses straight from a dip pen thus the mess
